WELSH COUNCILS SEEK PARTNERS FOR £850M FRAMEWORK
Councils across Wales are seeking architectural and construction partners for a wide-ranging four-year framework potentially worth up to £850m.
The framework covers design-and-build jobs across a range of projects, including refurbishments and new build, and may involve single and multiple-site projects across a variety of clients.
It will be divided into 12 separate lots.
Lot 12 covers projects across all regions of the framework and will entail projects worth over £15m.
The smaller lots – worth £1m each – contain work for specific regions, including Swansea, Port Talbot and Carmarthernshire, while larger lots, worth between £3.5m and £7.5m, are divided into East and West regions.
The East region comprises Neath Port Talbot and Swansea, while the West region includes Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion.
Tenders for the framework can be submitted for one or more lots.
The framework includes work for a wide range of clients, including Aberystwyth University, the National Library of Wales, Dyfed Powys Police and Swansea City Council.
According to OJEU documents, the framework will involve a maximum of 84 different contractors and last for four years.
Continuous improvement and collaboration measurement by key performance indicators (KPIs) are likely to be important features of the framework.
Additionally, successful partners will be expected to meet the community benefits clause within the tender documents to ensure targets on social and environmental engagement are met.
