ARCHITECT WANTED FOR THE UNIVERSITY OF SURREY24 February 2016
THE UNIVERSITY OF SURREY IS LOOK FOR AN ARCHITECT TO RE-DEVELOP ITS STUDENT UNION BUILDING, THE £3.8 MILLION PROJECT WILL BE CARRIED FOR COMPLETION AND IS EXPECTED TO BE DELIVERED FOR 2018. THE BUILDING KNOWN AS UNION HOUSE WAS DESIGNED BY MAGUIRE AND MURRAY ARCHITECTS AND FEATURES A NUMBER OF PERFORMANCE SPACES, OFFICES AND BARS.
According to the initial project brief: ‘The aim is to transform Union House into “a top ten UK Union fit for generations of Surrey students yet to come.”
‘The proposed work would involve every area and level of the building; some areas would be completely reconfigured, whilst a lighter touch would be deployed for other areas, which are deemed to be working well and perhaps more “cosmetic” work is sufficient.’
The University of Surrey offers courses in business, science, engineering and medicine.
5 teams will be shortlisted for the £270,000 contract, with the scheme being run from RIBA stage zero to six.
The deadline for returning completed PQQs is 12 noon on 14 March.
