Funded by the Local Growth Fund and Merseytravel, the overhaul of Newton Le Willows’ train station forms part of the wider £340m investment by Liverpool City Region in its rail network.

The park and ride facility will accommodate 400 parking spaces as well as a bus interchange and dedicated drop off and pick up area. In addition, the re-developed train station will provide updated waiting facilities, secure cycle parking and step free access to the platforms.

Building on the electrification works that have already taken place on the Liverpool to Manchester line, these improvements to the station will aim to create a strategic transport hub, connecting the local transport network with rail links across the country.
