WATES CONSTRUCTION TO BUILD £45M STOCKPORT CINEMA

WATES CONSTRUCTION HAS BEEN AWARDED A TWO-STAGE DESIGN AND BUILD CONTRACT FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF REDROCK STOCKPORT, FOLLOWING A COMPETITIVE TENDER PROCESS THROUGH THE NORTH WEST CONSTRUCTION HUB.

BUILT ON THE SITE OF THE CURRENT BRIDGEFIELD STREET CAR PARK IN THE TOWN, REDROCK STOCKPORT WILL COMPRISE A 10 SCREEN CINEMA, A MULTI-STOREY CAR PARK, RESTAURANTS, CAFÉ BARS AND RETAIL UNITS TOTALLING MORE THAN 3,800M2.

 

The £45m development has been designed by architect BDP; project manager is Gardiner & Theobald. Preparatory work has already started in the area and main construction is expected to start in the autumn 2015. Completion is expected in spring 2017.

Wates Construction regional director Tony Shenton said the contractor was now looking for local subcontractors to work on the project.
